I know there are lots of web applications eg. MSN and Yahoo stuff, but Google has it all, without all the in your face and eye candy stuff that makes pages load so slow. The Interface on most Google apps is simple and clean. Please consider Google as your friend, they have some great free features.

First step - Get a Gmail invite

This article will be edited regularly as there is so much to mention and explain, bear in mind Google apps are very easy to configure and make life so much easier.

The first thing you want to do is get a Google e-mail account, this opens up the google world to you. The username for the Gmail account is used to log into all Google services, remember this, one username, one password for all Google apps.

Quite a few members of OzMS use Gmail at least, so there are many invites to use Gmail to be had. Just ask in a forum or PM for someone to send you an invite. When you get the invite put the username you want in front of the @gmail.com part and see if that username is available.

Gmail, is I think, the best web based email service, it's spam filter is very clever, it does a great job of sending any spam messages to the spam folder, which you probably should check now and then for any minor mistakes it has made. This happens rarely.

That's it for the first page of this article get yourself a Gmail account!
