The Victorian Human Rights Commission is set to undertake research into the experiences of people with disability using taxi services in Victoria. The survey will run 5-26 February 2010.The Commission wants to hear from individuals with a disability who have used taxis within the last six months.

Perhaps before you consider writing to your local MP you first need to consider a few points! Firstly, is the matter of concern to you a federal, state or local government matter? Quite often all 3 are interested in an issue but only one level of Government can effect a change in a particular area. So first of all, try and determine which member of parliament, state or federal, it is appropriate to raise an issue with.

A deal has recently been announced that offers affordable dial-up Internet access to Veterans, people with a disability and the frail aged. TADAust Connect is a partnership between Technical Aid to the Disabled in the ACT (TADACT) and Victorian Internet provider ISPOne, with no setup fee, unlimited downloads and flexible contract arrangements.

The Companion Card Program is funded by the Victorian Government and has been developed to promote the existing right of people with a disability to access and participate in community activities without having to always pay for two admissions; one for themselves and one for their companion. It is issued free of charge.
